3 Steps to Finding a Tagline that’s Right for Your Business
A tagline is a catchy one-liner that connects to the mind of your customer and creates brand awareness.
You might know some of these big brand taglines.
Nike’s: “Just do it”
Bounty: "The Quicker Picker Upper"
Dunkin' Donuts: "America Runs on Dunkin'"
Maybelline: "Maybe she's born with it. Maybe it's Maybelline."
MasterCard: "There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's MasterCard."
You can most likely name the business by just hearing their tagline.
A tagline is a catchy one-liner that connects to the mind of your customer and creates brand awareness.
These big companies didn’t start out with these taglines. As they grew their business their taglines evolved just like yours will.
Having a tagline is a great way to grab attention and it sums up what your brand and business is about. You’re basically telling them what you do and why they should stop and pay attention to you.
It helps with your brand recognition and should be short and to the point.
Having a tagline helps give your brand a personality and should spark emotion with your ideal audience that they feel connected with.
It’s also a great way to set you apart from your competition, allowing you to stand out from anyone else online.
Need some help coming up with a tagline for your business.
Here is my 3 step process to finding a tagline that’s right for your business.
1. Write out a list of what you do and how you help your clients. This can be your business summary, elevator pitch, mission, and vision statements or just a brain dump of your business as a whole.
2. Shorten it down to 1-2 sentences.
3. Cut it down again, Usually 5-9 words at most.
Mine is “Let’s Build a Brand that Attracts and Stands Out”
It takes time, don’t rush it. I always recommend coming up with a few ideas and running them by your ideal clients to see which one resonates the most for them and see which one feels the best to you.
